Why I did Warfig?

The launch is the 18th of June, this Wednesday at 9PM Perth time!

Hi all

the kickstarter is launching next Wednesday at 9pm! I am sure you starting to see the blast so will mix up this email a bit and write about why I made Warfig.

Why I made Warfig

So its been almost a year and half since I started making Warfig. It was Christmas and I was surfing my reddit and I distinctly remember this comment…

“If you can’t afford a Ferrari, dont try to buy a sport car. If you cant afford to buy Warhammer, dont play tabletop war gaming”

This comment hit home for me. As a kid of the 1990s in Australia, everyone was playing Warhammer (though more 40k admittingly). Everyone was playing magic the gathering too! In fact, when you walked into the library at lunch time, people werent doing homework or reading, each library table was packed with people playing warhammer or MTG…..it was wild!

So when I read this comment, it got me thinking, how did a genre of gaming so fun become so exclusive. Any way, so for the next few weeks I started braining storming how to make a more accessible tabletop wargame.

My first idea was to make a miniature that had changeable weapon and armour! But it became pretty apparent my 3d modelling skills (and printer) werent going to cut it!

Early ideas for Warfig

So I thought rather than the customisation of the weapons at the model phase, why not do these in a card format!

So the first version of Warfig was on individual bases, this looked cool but moving an army took forever (a problem is most tabletop wargames!) So we decided to iterate and make a base that could move units easily through the battle field.

The first version of the tiles models were on individual bases

So we these early model bases we initially had sticks on the bases for the initial prototypes

An early game of Warfig

And that is how the journey of Warfig starter. Into the Kickstarter, we really hope we can make a game for everyone! My dream for Warfig is to bring back and era of where everyone war games in the parks, in the food courts, in the library, in the homes! You name it, any one can war game there

So if you made it this far, the kickstarter is launching the 18th June! Please sign up, would love you on the journey!

Also, we would love to get your input, anything you think that can be better, would like to see, or if you would like to be involved! Drop us a line!

Till Next time
